The Week’s Hexipuffs in Review; August 24-30, 2014

132 hexipuffs complete as of this past Sunday!

I recently gathered all of my minis together and came to a conclusion.  I have a ridiculous numer of mini-skeins to work with.  I didn’t even bother counting them, it is just insane.  And to think, I’ll be getting another 10 each month to add the collection!

Let’s get to last week’s round-up!  I got it into my head that I really wanted to knit with the Black Trillium Fibres gradient kit that I purchased way back in April.  I had concluded then that these sets were the best bang for my buck.  For $39, I get 5 demi-skeins that each produce 10 hexipuffs.  That is 50 puffs per kit and less than a dollar for each one.  These will be great fillers for the quilt layout I have in mind.

As always, must knit faster!  Here are last week’s offerings:

I was able to knit 7 more hexipuffs this week!  My first package from Knitcrate (yay – more details on that to come!) arrived as well as my yarn from Chiagu’s monthly subscription.  I have plenty of minis to keep me busy, but I just seem to collect more and more. Clearly I must knit faster.

The Week’s Hexipuffs in Review – August 10 – 16, 2014

With the arrival of my darling little sir, it has become quite apparent to me that I will not be able to keep up with the daily posts that featured each puff individually.  I haven’t highlighted a single puff in quite a while anyway, but I do plan to retroactively feature the weekly puffs that have not been featured.  Stay tuned to those later on this week!

For now though, I will focus on this past week’s beekeeper’s quilt efforts and show you the beautiful yarns I worked with this week!

Rainbow of Hexipuffs

I mentioned in my previous post that I have been able to knit a bit here and there since Sir W’s birth and I am happy to report that I have knit the 45 rainbow colored mini-skeins from Three Fates Yarn!  Here they are:

I absolutely loved working with this yarn and may in the future ask for another grouping.  For now I am the remnants of the yarn to work with and plan to incorporate them for a natural colored yarn to create a colorwork looking hexipuff.  I did make a couple of trial hexipuffs a couple months ago and think they turned out well.  I wasn’t super thrilled with the way the striped hexipuff turned out as the side where I alternated the yarns sort of rounded out instead of staying nice and sharp.  I will need to figure out how to remedy this for future hexipuffs or I may just leave the striped ones out all together.  They are on the bottom of this picture here:
